Digital Health Circle is partnering with 411 Seniors Centre Society (411) by mentoring digital health initiatives that support healthy aging. In January 2020, along with committed community and research partners, we founded the 411 Podstream Circle STAR partnership. Our goal is to empower 411 members through co-creation models exploring digital health solutions that support quality of life. Contributing partners include 411 Seniors Society, the STAR Institute (SFU Science and Technology for Aging Research), Podstream Studios, and SFU’s Personalized Mental Health research initiative. Our mandate is to support the voices and needs of seniors by enhancing experience and access to skills that reduce inequities of the digital divide.
The mandate of 411 Seniors Centre Society is to mobilize combined strengths, interests and expertise to benefit their members. The centre sees over 5000 seniors a year, the majority of whom exist in low-income living conditions. Podstream Studios shares space with 411 Seniors Centre helping 411 produce an exciting Powered By Age podcast series, totally designed and produced by the members of 411 Seniors Centre. Our partnership is a fresh example of supporting seniors community interests and needs, particularly with respect to storytelling and capturing intergenerational histories.
Our partnership has also gathered online resources for seniors’ access to health support during the COVID-19 crisis. We are aware of the impact of social-distancing and social isolation and continue to work together to support Aging In Place.
